THE TRAINING PROGRAM FOR SELF-PROPELLED JIB CRANE OPERATOR

In the companies of the Republic of Lithuania, organizations and construction objects a wide range of various types and parameters of self-propelled jib cranes is used. The boom cranes of up to 1 ton load capacity with installed arrow mechanisms for change and / or turning as well as the equipment related to them is classified as potentially dangerous equipment, and the work with them can be dangerous. When using self-propelled jib cranes, due to a lack of organizational means and violations of safety regulations of crane handling, accidents happen. In most cases, riggers become the victims of such accidents.
Machine gears of higher than the 11th level of lifting capacity of jib type cranes with equipped switching and / or turning mechanisms are registered in the State Register of
Potentially Dangerous Equipment (PPI) and the supervision of technical inspection bodies provided by authorized facilities must be established for this type of cranes.
The employees that control such devices must be trained and certified at the training institutions.
This training program is available to persons no younger than 18 years of age who have gained general education, C category driver’s license and have a valid medical certificate that proves the suitability for this position.
The purpose of training – to prepare a self-propelled jib crane operator, who would have specialist knowledge about self-propelled jib cranes, their types, construction, control devices, protective equipment, employees’ safety and health requirements, would be able to control self-propelled jib cranes, safely lift loads, carry out construction mounting works.
The training program consists of a theoretical part at a training institution and a practical training at the base of a company that uses self-propelled jib cranes. The program consists of 520 planned hours as the total program duration. The theoretical training takes 202 hours, while the practical training takes 304 hours.
To the persons, who have successfully completed the training program and passed the qualification exams, a professional training diploma (code 4102) and the certificate of attestation is issued, which gives the right to work as a self-propelled jib crane operator.
